Welcome to Stargazer Island, where the weird, wonderful, and magical meet.
When your mother is a dryad and your father is a Native American Shaman, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be an environmentalist. And Sage takes saving the world seriously. She does her best to keep her carbon footprint as small as possible, up to and including her beloved bookstore, Alternate Universe. But what she doesn’t know is just how big a print she’s left on the heart and soul of one giant Viking.
The day Eric set foot on Stargazer Island was the day his world was rocked to the core. Not only did he learn that magic really exists – and that he possessed just such a legacy in the form of a Viking Berserker – but he set eyes on Sage Winters, the woman – quite literally – of his dreams. The real woman though is so much more… smarter, more beautiful, and far, far more infuriating.
Eric would do anything to keep Sage safe, even if it means staying away. Too bad the stubborn woman didn’t get that memo. And when Eric discovers she’s in danger from more than just his past? All bets are off, because this Berserker won’t stop fighting until the monsters that threaten Sage are slain. Even if it costs him his life.
This is Book 3 in the Stargazer Island Series but can be read as a standalone.
“And what is this about you going on a ‘not exactly normal’ date with my boy? I know Eric treated you well. He’s always been a gentleman. What wasn’t normal about it?”
Sage’s mouth worked, but no sound came out. Miz Andrea’s words caused her traitorous mind to flash back to the explosive kiss they shared back in October. It certainly had not been “gentlemanly.”
In order to help Celia, they had needed to search her professor’s hotel room. Sage was given the position of look-out on the same floor. She had to watch for security, and if the professor returned too quickly, find a way to distract him long enough that Eric and Mace could escape undetected.
When they got the warning that the professor was on his way up, Eric had hurried from the room, but did not have time to get out of the hall. Instead, he grabbed Sage, pushed her back into a small alcove so she was hidden from view, and kissed her.
And that kiss had burned through her like a volcano’s eruption. Conquering. Wild and untamed. Marauding even. But “gentlemanly” reminded her of Jane Austen’s heroes. No way could she picture Eric playing the part of a buttoned-up, overly starched Regency or Victorian gentleman.
That kiss might have been cover for him, but it scrambled her brains. Hot, passionate, so much everything she had always imagined but had never found with anyone else, real or fictional. Sage sighed. She really needed to stop reading so many romance novels. A good mystery would not have her comparing Eric to every romantic hero she had ever come across.
As a Native American Shaman and Dryad, Sage is a serious environmentalist, as well as a skilled healer. She's all about protecting the planet and its inhabitants, whatever the threat might be. Everything in her bookstore is salvaged and rebuilt, and she only works with publishing companies who use environmentally friendly practices and products. She's got no problem debating environmental issues with anyone. But evil creates a pollution all its own, and when her friends need help to stop it, Sage will do a whole lot more than just argue.
A former US Navy SEAL, Eric is used to action. He's seen and conquered demons his whole life. Evil is nothing new. When he decides to visit his old shipmates, Liam and Sam, however, he isn't expecting those demons, or that evil, to take any other form than human. Learning magic is real and that the world is inhabited by creatures and people with abilities beyond imagining could send even a hardened veteran reeling. Especially when he finds out he's one of them. Luckily, his friends have his six, just as he has theirs.
Sonya's best friend since college, newly minted doctor of Chemistry Celia arrives on Stargazer to help her bestie move into her grandmother's house. A strong psychic medium, Celia would not be surprised to find the centuries old Victorian filled with spirits of the past. Danger and demons is a whole other story. But CC's got no problem stepping up to help her friend kick evil's ass.
Comfortable with his Romani legacy, Rowan has been surrounded by magic his whole life. Like the brother of his heart, Liam, Rowan vowed to protect Stargazer and its people. Now that evil is ramping up, he'll stand with a group of friends, both new and old, to defeat it.
Sonya is a twenty-six year old witch with a powerful family legacy and degrees in history and language. She has been through a lot since her father's murder, but finally, she is back on Stargazer Island. The one place that always felt like home. Now, it's up to her to keep it safe from an ancient enemy.
After serving in the Navy for ten years, Liam, a powerful cougar shifter, has returned to Stargazer and taken a job on the local police force. As a child, he swore to protect the island and its people. None more so than Sonya.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Sam joined his best friend, Liam, on Stargazer Island after leaving the Navy. Raised by his Voodoo Priestess maman, Sam figured he had a handle on the concept of magic. But nothing could have prepared him for what he's about to learn. Both about Stargazer, and himself.
Occasionally, I'll be adding a short (very short) story about my characters to this website. These little tales might show either the character's past, or the present, but will give readers a bit of insight into their lives. All these stories will be free; my gift to you, dear reader. Enjoy!
If you like the covers of Witch's and The Frozen Flame, you can click on the link on the link below to check out more drawings. A good friend of mine drew the cover for me. She's a great artist, and I look forward to working with her in the future. Thanks for everything, Samantha!
