“It is the Mother’s duty to bear children. It is the Father’s duty to mold, teach, and protect those children. And should those children act out, discipline them.”
A single drop of corruption. That’s all it takes to slowly poison the ancient god Quirinus. As that corruption takes hold, he turns his attention back to the mortal world he left behind long before.
Now calling himself Corin Desaevio, he creates the Storm Syndicate, bringing together criminal organizations of every stripe. Crime families, assassins, outlaws, black marketeers… Anyone who lives in the shadows. But to what purpose? All these groups know is that when the Storm Syndicate’s Shadow Council calls, they must answer.
For those within each organization, there is a choice to make. Do they obey the call of the Shadow Council, or the call of their true mates? Is passion enough to draw them out of the darkness? It’s a tug-of-war between true love and the Storm Syndicate with these dark, scarred souls as the prize. And when evil steps beyond the bounds of what even these hardened criminals can accept, they will tear the world down to save the ones they claim as theirs.
What happens when the incorruptible becomes corrupt? How far will a god go when he walks the dark path? Who will be caught in his wake and who will escape?
No one knows exactly when it began, who formed it, or why. But when the Storm Syndicate calls, no one ignores their orders.
Tristan Arnaud has more than just his family’s smuggling background to call on when the Syndicate orders him to steal a document from the cult VSR. But using his abilities becomes dangerous when something inside the compound seduces his demon blood.
Mistreated and forced to use her strange, hated abilities, Sarin knows little of the outside world, but she recognizes criminals on sight. And Tristan wears that stamp with pride. His attitude toward stealing should sicken her. The dominance he cannot hide should terrify her. Yet she can’t stop thinking about him.
But hope, desire, and trust are dangerous bedfellows in Sarin’s small world. If Sarin gives Tristan everything he craves, will the darkness inside them both succumb to the evil surrounding them? Or can the light Sarin clings to save both their souls?
